长期从事花卉教学科研工作,主持完成国家863、科技支撑计划等课题22项,在梅花、菊花等重要花卉种质挖掘、品种培育、产业化技术方面开展了持续系统的研究。获国家科技进步二等奖2项(均排名1)、省部级科技进步奖7项、国家教学成果一等奖1项;培育花卉新品种66个,其中获国家植物新品种权44项、美国和欧盟植物专利各1项、国际品种登录3项;获国家发明专利43项;制定国家、行业标准16项;截至2014年底已出版专著17部;发表论文200余篇(含SCI收录51篇),培养博士63人、硕士121人。1994年起享受政府特殊津贴,曾荣获全国优秀科技工作者、北京市教学名师、宝钢优秀教师特等奖等荣誉。
